Explanation of design:
This cell phone is a touch screen model which promotes ease of use. The 3-page extended menu means that you can have easy and instant access to all your apps. Commands are obeyed with a tap of the finger, even when switching SIM card use.

Design issue:
The touch screen is too sensitive. Whether you are carrying it in your bag or in your pocket the locked screen unlocks and starts dialing or playing music. There is no way to lock the phone from unnecessary touching. You think you are using an iphone with the flipping of pages to the apps but the touch screen appears to be on even when you don't want it to be.

Recommendations for improvement: Because of the iphone, Samsung has re-designed its better phone into the Galaxy with much more interactivity and a locking screen that requires a code to enter. The designers found out who their users were and then determined the tasks to be carried out by the user. According to Shneiderman, (p65) Task analysis is important if you want your user to be content. "Every designer would agree that the set of tasks must be determined before design can proceed, but too often, the task analysis is done informally or incompletely." The success of the galaxy is in part due to the iPhone but the Galaxy is not limited to Apple applications making it a much more attractive buy.
